Darren Hayes: Let me tell you all that it's the most beautiful day in San Francisco, the sun is shining... (which can be a rare thing in the foggy bay!) and it really feels like summer.

Darren Hayes: Hey Clare... well before I starting writing and recording I was in complete slob mode - sleeping in until 10 eating losts, doing little! We finsished the tour in December and I took about 2 months off.. now I'm pretty rigid.. I still get up at 9 or 10 but I'm working out, eating well.. I usually have been in the studio late sometimes don't get to bed until 2 or 3 and then pretty much spend from midday until 9 or 10pm working on music. I usually fit in a trip to the dog park with Wally and yoga or something outdoorsy in there as well.. but that's pretty much my day/life.

Darren Hayes: I don't know if I could.. it's like I find it hard enough describing myself in a conversation because I think we're all worth more than a few sentences..we're all more complicated than that.. in some ways I think my music is like one big open letter to the world about me..
Tracy: Angel Babe asks " Darren if you had a time machine what part of your life would you want to revisit and why?"
Darren Hayes: I think it's sold a million and some change.. I'm not sure..
Darren Hayes: I really don't believe in regret. You can't go back. I can tell you my favourite time in my life was 1983 for many reasons, probably because I was a child at heart, I was innocent and the world seemed so magical to me.

Darren Hayes: In terms of perfume? I love wood and earth scents.. so I'm a big fan of any fragrence that has patchouli, moss, amber tobacco those kinds of ingredients.

Darren Hayes: I really feel that I have been slowly blanded out over the years!! I'm looking forward to changing that a little..

Darren Hayes: Hey DarrensPassion... I'm not really good with these type of q's because I really feel that I've been very lucky and fortunate. I do wish that we took more responsibility for our words... sometimes I think we forget how damaging criticism can be.. like when I run into someone who says..'oh I HATE this..or that.. or a celebrity' and my first reaction is always 'do you know them personally? ' and a general disbelief in that much hatred and negative energy. I just think if the whole world thought a little bit more about how we treat each other every other wish I could come up with would come true..

Darren Hayes: Alison... hey.. usually I put together a cd in the order I think they should be in... then I try to find songs I haven't played in a while.. and then I like to change the arrangements... and then in rehearsals some things suck.. some work briliantly.. and you just take it step by step..

Darren Hayes: Hey spintacular.. the wgo project was like a dream come true. Loved it. Bono was actually a good producer and had a lot of ideas. He's a wonderful man. I got to meet Michael Stipe there too and he told me he loved my voice which blew me away..

Darren Hayes: aww thanks skater.. the best thing ever was probably holding my nieces and nephews when they were born. It's beyond spiritual to see your family blood somehow continued in this new little person.

Darren Hayes: I've told it a million times but the year we were living in a trailer park and poor and we ate a take out chicken on a park bench for dinner but my mother had saved up all year and bought me the star wars figures. She made sure we had toys even though we could barely afford food.

Darren Hayes: Well, I sleep in shorts and he knows when we get up that before I go outside I usually put trousers on and that means 'walk'.. so now any time I get dressed he thinks it's for him...

Darren Hayes: I dream a lot... especially when I'm writing. Often they are extremely vivid and sometimes a little intuitive.

Darren Hayes: My first ever song was written in my head and then on a twin deck tape recorder and it was called 'take it down'... I wrote it in my sister's bedroom on her stereo using headphones plugged into the mic input as a microphone..

Darren Hayes: I was in town and bono called up all the labels asking who was around. I wanted to be involved because AIDS scares the crap out of me and it should scare everyone. Aids medication should be free.

Darren Hayes: I think it's more about the right time and moment than the one specific person. I don't think it's realistic to put all of your hopes and dreams into another person. I think you have to be in the same space and moment in life to really recognize each other.

Darren Hayes: Hey vegemite. There aren't any songs left over. We wrote exactly 14 songs I think for the affirmation project.. and what didn't go on the album ended up on bsides album

Darren Hayes: Hey catriona...great question. Yes.. I do think you have to be scared when you're making art. I don't think I was scared making spin. I was initially but when I got into it I was probably too relaxed. Wheras with this new record I'm terrified that I'm revealing too much or that it's not what people would expect and then I get that feeling in my gut and I just know I have to follow my instincts.

Darren Hayes: That's a good question too.. probably because with backing vocals you need people who can often sing higher parts than the melody.. and because my voice is so high there aren't many males who could sing higher than me..

Darren Hayes: I have no problem with the possibility of adopting or having a child if I'm not in a relationship. I think I'll have a kid when I'm ready regardless of 'the one'..if you know what I mean

Darren Hayes: I love the beach and the snow. I only recently went to the snow for a vacation and I have to say I loved it. I"m so used to heat from Australia that I probably prefer the cold.

Darren Hayes: I really don't cook that well! sometimes I don't cook meat well enough and serve it up a little unintentionally raw..!

Darren Hayes: It was really necessary to be honest. It was so hard transitioning from hugely successful band to beginning again.. the media were more than horrible in parts of the world and I took a lot of heat. It really knocked me over and to be honest it was the toughest year of my life. I really felt so worn down and that in many ways people were expecting and wanting me to fail. It required so much energy to keep my spirits up and keep my eye on the prize. I'm glad I didn't buckle.. I'm glad the haters didn't win and I feel so much stronger for geting through it all.
Darren Hayes: Hey tmd.. I have moments all the time as we all do.. when you feel right with yourself and the world. lately writing songs and really examining my self and dealing with my demons has been so cathartic and definitely made me feel at peace
