san francisco

Hi Guys,

Well, it is our very last night in San Francisco and we are in the middle of a dinner party with a few of our friends. As I haven't updated for a little while, Darren and I thought it might be nice to do one from home that has nothing to do with Savage Garden and is actually just all about spending time with friends in the house (which, as you can imagine, rarely happens). So, I decided to take out the trusty old laptop during dinner and write to you, when Tyler.... our Southern friend who is constantly on the look out to be the centre of attention (so, you can IMAGINE what the house feels like at the moment.. completely CHOCK FULL of attention suckers.. I'm surprised that passed out from lack of oxygen!), decided that she MUST write the update this week. Never one to say no when somebody offers to do my job.. I've decided to let her have a little chat to you. So... here she is... enjoy it!! (... hey.. but not TOO much!)

I had just returned from Molly Stone's, where I was buying bing cherries for my husband, when suddenly the message machine alerted me that I had a message. It was Darren, who was doing his routine impersonation of my husband, which of course did not fool me one iota. I knew exactly who it was...no Aussie has the true ability to sound Southern. Anyway, he asked me to contact all of you and give you an update as to what's been happening. Let me first say, "HELLO JAPAN"....

So you want to know what Darren does in his free time. Well, I bring him "black tie" cake from Sweet Things. It's his favorite.

Just last night he gave us five bags of old clothes. They were actually in garbage bags, which we hurled over the side of his deck down to the ground below because I did not know he had an elevator. I did not think elevators were prudent in California due to all of the earthquakes.

Anyway, tomorrow we'll put him on a plane and send him out there to all of you. However, I have requested for him to bring me just one little tiny trinket home. Preferably something that sparkles!!! If you holler out my name at least twice during the concert, I might just get my little gift.

Leonie has asked me to add one thing about her, since after all this is supposed to be her website update, and so I must tell you all about this roast beef dinner she prepared for us. She's asked me over about five times for dinner... never ONCE has there been a dinner when I arrived.... which I find very unusual. None-the-less, she reckoned she would attempt to prepare a roast for us. As usual when we arrived there was no dinner. After an hour or so we were treated to "the mystery vegetable" and a hunk of raw hide. By ten p.m with no food it is no longer about manners but rather about survival. We ordered pizza.

kisses and all good things.
Tyler

So..... it's me again.. Leonie.. I was sitting on the balcony and Tyler came walking out with my computer.. showing off to me about how 'funny' and 'intelligent' she is. Okay.. granted.. this is a great update from an outsider.. and granted even more, I love the fact that my job has been done without one iota of participation from me.

I think I like this new format a lot and perhaps (if we are all VERY VERY lucky, we will have further guest writers throughout the tour). Okay.. I don't want there to be a mass uprising of REQUESTS and a thousand posts on the prospect of having Karl, Lee, Ben or one of the girls post an update .. because.. let's face it .. if this works in some way, then it will probably happen. And you and I both know that I'm the WORST person to keep in contact with.. I'm just soooo lazy. So.. let's look forward to the US tour and see how we go with the guest posts. I hope you enjoyed Tyler tonight.. and the photographs of our friends (or at least the ones who came to our dinner party).. and we'll see you all for some REAL Savage Garden information very soon!

It's off to Paris for Darren and I tomorrow, then onto Ireland, then London for Party In the Park and some tv promo, including Top Of The Pops.. then, on the 14th July we are in Augusta, Georgia for the start of the USA tour!! I can't wait... we have missed the band and crew a lot on this trip and it will be great to catch up with them all again.

See you on the road!
Leonie
