big apology..and
a treat so there
is no chat.. Long story and far too technical for me.. But here's an apology
in the form of me typing answers to your q's at 3.30 in the morning. What's gonna happen to everyone associated with sg as in carla, leonie, this site, the fan club and fanzine, will you still post on this site? Leonie will always work with me.. Carla will in some capacity.. This site i guess will continue for a while... Maybe it too will go on hiatus but there will always be a message board for you to inhabit.. I'd never take that away!! The fanzine as well will take a break. I imagine i'll have my own site for a while and keep u updated on the recording process of my album 1)will australia be getting the hold me vid, or for that matter, anything else new? Yes... Hold me is the next australian single.. Look out for a repackage of the album with a bonus live album...before christmas.. What is your favorite room in your house and why? The kitchen. It's the heart and soul. 1) darren, what keeps or gets you motivated to get up each day and perform or do interviews and ect?2) i have no idea. A constant energy and a drive to keep going. I love performing. More than anything i love singing. So i do it all day anyway. Interviews? I see it as a link between me and the people who buy records and a way to get the word out there. It is very mentally exhausting though. Currently, what is your most valuable item i don't value objects. My most valuable things would be relationships.. Darren, forgive the out right craziness of this question, but have you ever met a fan and just wished you had the time to get to know them... In other words: have you ever wanted to "make friends" and simply couldn't? Honestly.. I don't even get a chance to really connect for that long... Life is so busy.. But i do make an effort to be real and to be honest. There are some amazing people i've met who inspire me with their battles against life struggles..disease..illness..abuse.. So i reach out more to these people.. But ultimatley i'm not trying to be everyone's friend.. I'm just here to entertain you and make you feel. 2. How has being famous and successful changed you as a person inside? Such a long answer really. The short version? It's made me busy. That makes it hard to have love and silence in your life.. But at the same time.. Fame...and i still cringe at the word.. But it has made me feel loved and ridiculed all at the same time. I understand that it's all just a clever plane by god or the universe to teach me a lesson and to perhaps teach others. I don't know exactly what the purpose is..but i'm sure it's good. 1. Do you ever think about the past and think 'wow, i have come a long way" and does it still shock you of all that has happened with the band's success? It doesn't shock me. You ask the universe for something with innocence and usually it responds. You can ask for good or bad things. We all do. 2. Will you tour with the release of your up and coming solo album? Not sure. I'd like to promote it alot.. Maybe do clubs and one off appearances.. Secret gigs.. Then see how it goes. I'd ideally like two solo records out before i toured. That having been said.. I'll bet i will tour! Are savage garden going to do anything special like a farewell concert (hint, hint!) In brisbane to say goodbye to their hometown fans.... Sydney was kind of that.. After the games. 2.do you like pepsi or coca cola better?... I like pepsi max.. Only available in europe and australia.. But i do love real coke.. I just don't enjoy it alot..too many calories and too much caffeine Is there anywhere that you'd like to go that you've never been? A desert island carribean holiday When it comes to the clothes you wear for concerts, interviews and everything savage garden related, we know you don't choose the actually clothes you wear but do you choose the styles and then the stylists choose the clothes or is it all about the people paid to dress you? Actually i design alot of the stage costumes.. With designers.. I have very clear ideas. In terms of 'styling'.. With me that means someone shops.. Shows me a selection of clothes and i choose an outfit. Really it's just i don't have time to choose clothes from the store.. But i pick everything i wear.. #1 did someone special give you the hoop earring? I've never seen you without it and was wondering about its significance. It's a birthday gift from leonie #2 would you ever date a woman who was a fan before you met her? I've never dated anyone who knew who i was .. If that makes sense. It's just easier. There's no expectations. i've always
been curious how they handle meals on tour buses. Do they have a kitchen
set up? Fridge? What do you do when you get up in the middle of the night
with the munchies. 2) did you
realize how hypocritical you sounded when you wrote the line in affirmation
"i believe the struggle for financial freedom is unfair, i believe
the only ones who disagree are millionaires" when you are a millionaire

I feel better about myself. That's what affirmation was all about really.. Accepting who/what you are... Yoga has helped. Having my natural hair has helped. It sounds silly but now... It's my natural hair with a few blonde hilights and i feel so much more natural and like the person i feel inside. What was the photo shoot for people magazine like? You know we're going to have a zillion questions when the magazine comes out, so a little detail would be very much appreciated!! ;-) people magazine? Huh? If i were in it i'm sure i wouldn't be able to reveal anything! Hahah!! 2) along the same lines of the first question, it seemed like you were very nervous during the video shoot for "i knew i loved you," so how did you overcome this for the hold me video? It was pretty steamy!!! I shot hold me with a friend/director alek keshishian who knew me.. And really pushed me. I love that video. Did you read any of the dongers posts, and i guess i actually have a second question, did you laugh? No i didn't.. But the whole donger..thing.. I don't even think i said that! I don't use that word so i can't imagine describing my member as.. Well.. A donger. 1. Do you mind that we discuss your donger on the board? Yes it makes me feel cheap and like an object! Not! It's basic to me to be the person i am. And how did you come up with the 'elvis' idea for cty &,again,was that costume your idea? It was never meant to be elvis. It was a character i made up called 'dazzler' note i hate the nick name 'daz'.. Anyway. Dazzler was this whole joke about how i hate daz... And wanted to be this over the top version of myself. A lot of the inspriation for the costumes in the show came from elvis 1968..very leather.. But also brando.. Fifth element.. It was an accident that when i turned up for the final fitting it looked like elvis and i just decided to go for it. In europe i am the gold rhinestone cowboy for chained to you. Look out! 2. I adore "mine" and i was just always curious what the inspiration behind that song was. I think it's beautifully dark and moody with so much angst. Was it a 'goth moment' as people say? But it's a bit more danceable than rock/pop. There will always be a hint of melancholy in everything i do.. I'm the kind of person who loves a rainy day when you're inside all cozy.. It makes you think and makes you want to feel that way. 2. Is there any question you're asked in interviews,chats etc., That you are completely bored with or annoys you now? How do you feel about your success. Where did the name come from. Where's daniel. How did you two meet. 2. What did you make of the controversy surrounding your choice to wear an aboriginal shirt at the closing ceremony? I thought it was sad. It was racism in its most blatant form. I wasn't making a political statement. I was wearing the flag of the people who were in australia before the rest of the world arrived. I was paying tribute to roots and suggesting that we think for a moment. 1. Do you have a religion/do you believe in god? Because you receive so many and couldn't possibly keep them all, what do you do with all the gifts you receive from your fans? (donate to a charity or something?) We don't get a lot of gifts now for that reason.. I hate to see money go to waste. Children's toys are given to children on tour or to hospitals. . Do you believe in reincarnation and if so who do you think you were in a past life?? Maybe. A person. A prince? A pauper. I don't know. Its no secret that you are a very handsome, intelligent and sexy man and there's no reason for you to be embarrassed about that. You've shown us the sexual side of you in the minx interview, the cosmopolitan radio interview and on countless other occassions - including the hold me video where you knew damm well what seeing you shirtless would do to us...omg!! *fans herself*. So, the question is: do you object to us posting messages of a sexual nature. I have a darren fantasy thread which caused quite a stir on the board even though i labeled it for adults only. I am fine with the concept of being a fantasy in that popstars/actors..if we do our jobs right.. We should be a blank canvess for you to project on to. In terms of the censorship issue? We have our own guidelines in terms of what we think is appropriate. If it were pornographic or violent or morally really wrong.. It wouldn't end up on here. But the net is a new forum and so far has escaped ratings. But you know.. Sex.. Is not a bad thing. Oppression is. If i were a parent.. I would monitor what my child was doing with the net.
